Juan Elmartinez's Shell Shocked Noble Pawns is a gripping and unforgettable account of the Vietnam War, as seen through the eyes of a young American soldier. Raw, honest, and deeply moving, this book will stay with you long after you finish it.
Elmartinez was just 19 years old when he was drafted into the Army and sent to Vietnam. He served as a rifleman in the 1st Infantry Division, and he saw some of the heaviest fighting of the war. In Shell Shocked Noble Pawns, he recounts his experiences in vivid and often heartbreaking detail.
Elmartinez writes about the horrors of war: the death and destruction, the fear and uncertainty, the loneliness and despair. But he also writes about the camaraderie among soldiers, the resilience of the human spirit, and the hope that can be found even in the darkest of times.
Shell Shocked Noble Pawns is a must-read for anyone who wants to understand the Vietnam War. It is a powerful and important book that will help you to see the war through the eyes of those who fought it.
